Troy’s career began in his homeland, the USA, running an audiophile recording label, which gave him his first inroads to the world of marketing. He then set off to create Red Rock Multimedia which specialised in multimedia, web, video production and full-service marketing. In Europe, Troy led teams specialised in online marketing, before passing from agency to client, where he is today responsible for the internal and external marketing and communication of KNEIP, a leading service provider of the investment fund industry. In this very personal talk, Troy traces the question of excellence back to the roots of his family history. Through his own biography, he finds that we often stay mediocre, because we try so hard to avoid it. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
